Ravenous Devils is a unique horror-themed cooking simulator that combines elements of slash customer management with a dash of horror narrative. The game was inspired by Sweeney Todd and was developed and published by Bad Vices Games.
Ravenous Devils’ story centers around tailor Percival and cook Hildred, a grisly couple who serve up special horrific ingredients, namely human flesh and meat. While the game encourages creativity, it also contains dark humor and a twisted theme.
As I mentioned before, the game from now on is dark and grisly. The game allows you to freely switch control between these twisted souls. Despite being a management simulator, the game has you take an active role in running the shops for both characters, Hildred and Percival.
In Hildred’s gameplay, you’re tasked with completing orders similar to other cooking simulations, while your husband is tasked with supplying the kitchen ingredients.
Every day or two in games, you will get different materials, like letters and customers. When customers enter either establishment, a timer appears above their heads, ticking away the time while they wait for the product. The faster the goods are delivered, the more money you get in return. All that work does pay off because all the money you can earn is used only to upgrade the store. Most of the upgrades provide a visual change in their respective stores.
On the other hand, visually, Ravenous Devils doesn’t have triple graphics, yet it definitely makes up for it in style. For instance, seeing a body get ground into a thick meaty paste as blood flies everywhere really highlights how sound in art direction makes the difference in a game’s gore.
Lastly, although Ravenous Devils has a narrative cannibal aspect, the game looks amazing with the management skills, building upgrades, enjoyable music, great voice acting, and unique horror cooking. Ravenous Devils was released on May 12, 2022. The game is available on the PC platform on Steam. Besides the PC platform and Nintendo Switch, this new entry is also available on consoles.
