You choose what to take, prioritize the most valuable items and use your earnings to acquire new thief equipment that lets you scale higher and more dangerous locations.

As we mentioned, you team up online to plan heists, then steal anything that isn’t bolted down in The Break-In game. With a range of equipment that includes ladders, zip-line launchers, and climbing spikes, the game offers a fun and immersive gameplay experience.

The Break-In features a unique game board design that unfolds layers of the game and is a great screen-free way to keep kids or teens entertained and working together. You can now find this newly released game on Steam for $13.49.

Xenonauts 2

Xenonauts 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the 2014 Xenonauts, and it finally releases on July 18 on Steam. It’s in Early Access, but it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for hard-hitting turn-based alien invasion action.

It is a strategic planetary defense indie game that puts you in charge of a clandestine military organization tasked with protecting Earth from an extraterrestrial invasion. The game is set in a world where the Cold War never ended, and global tensions are rising to a dangerous threshold. This alternate reality offers the perfect backdrop for the Xenonauts‘ struggle against an alien invasion.

Xenonauts 2‘s complex gameplay combines the management of your base with turn-based ground missions and real-time air combat to respond to UFO incursions around the globe. Every decision you make has a direct impact on the war against the aliens, as your soldiers’ experience and abilities grow throughout the Geoscape, and the research you conduct on captured alien technology unlocks exotic new weapons, equipment, and aircraft for your squadrons to use in battle.

Viewfinder

If you’re a fan of first-person puzzle indie games that make you rethink your perspective, Viewfinder is the one to play this year. Developed by the UK-based independent studio Sad Owl Studios, this artistic and interactive experiment in reality-warping simulation gameplay feels like a quirky blend of Portal and Superliminal. It’s a game that’s both demanding and inviting, reshaping your world as you traverse its colorful hubs.

While the game starts off slow, easing you into the mind-bending ideas at play by only offering predefined photographs to find around stages, it’s not long before the game truly lets loose. At some point, you’re given a camera that allows you to take your own photos and manipulate them in real-time. This is where the fun really starts – rotating a photograph of a wall and using it as a ramp to climb up to an otherwise unreachable ledge, for instance.

Viewfinder is due to launch as a PS5 console exclusive on July 18, with a free demo available on the PlayStation Store ahead of release. A PC version is also be released on Steam on July 18, 2023.

Techtonica

Techtonica is a first-person factory automation indie game set below the surface of a rogue alien planet. Players will work alone or with friends to build factories, gather resources, research new technologies, mold the destructible terrain, establish a base of operations, and uncover long-forgotten secrets.

Fire Hose president Eitan Glinert says games like Factorio and Satisfactory inspired the team to create Techtonica. He hopes that its unique visual style and different approach to the genre will help it stand out.

Techtonica will be released on July 18, 2023, on Steam and will be available only for Windows PCs. Techtonica also will be included in Xbox Game Pass from day one.

My Friendly Neighborhood

My Friendly Neighborhood is a nonlinear survival horror indie game from two-brother developers John and Evan Szymanski and will be published by DreadXP on July 18, 2023, on Steam. It tells the story of an educational television program with a colorful cast of kooky puppets that once delighted children across the nation before its popularity began to fade and the studio shut down. Years later, the puppets are back broadcasting a gruesome new show, and it’s up to Gordon, a repairman for the studio, to stop them.

The game features a variety of different environments, including laundromats, pizza parlors, and executive offices that help to flesh out the world. It also features a wide array of puzzles that require players to search for keys, batteries, letter blocks, and masks to solve. Along the way, Gordon encounters numerous puppets that threaten his life while he tries to reach the building’s antenna.

Unlike other recent takes on mascot horror, like Five Nights at Freddy’s animatronic characters, serial killer doll Chucky, and last year’s Choo Choo Charles, My Friendly Neighborhood focuses on comedy rather than grotesqueness. While it might not make you jump out of your seat, it should still prove to be a fun time for fans of the genre.

Blackout Protocol

The Blackout Protocol is a co-op twin-stick shooter set in Section 13, an underground research facility that houses S2P Corporation’s most dangerous subjects. An internal containment breach knocked out the power, and now it’s up to you and your friends to arm yourself and delve into the darkness to find and eradicate whatever lurks there.

The game features a tense and spooky atmosphere and a rogue-lite structure where players can earn items to improve their equipment at each safe zone.

Developed by Ocean Drive Studio, the team behind the warmly-received Lost Eidolons, Blackout Protocol is due to hit Steam on July 20, 2023, as an Early Access release.

You’ll play matchmaker to help your townsfolk find each other and create the strongest couples possible. You’ll then be able to follow their lineages and see how their marriages affect your kingdom.

During the PC Gaming Show, French developer Ishtar Games revealed Lakeburg Legacies, a mashup of management and social simulation where you’ll have to match up the townfolk of your kingdom. The game will use procedural generation to ensure that each new run of the game will bring you a different set of people and scenarios to interact with.

Lakeburg Legacies will be released on July 20, 2023, on Steam.

In the game, it’s up to you to bring life back into weapons by restoring and reviving them in your workshop. This includes removing rust, re-coating, and cleaning the weapon, as well as sourcing unique wood and metal components to create truly unique firearms. You’ll also be able to upgrade your weapons with cutting-edge gadgets like optical sights and pistol grips.

Gunsmith Simulator‘s visuals are nothing to scoff at, either. They have that rubbery sheen that accompanies Unity improvements and offer an impressive level of detail.
